Private Nature and food tour in south iceland
About The Nature And Food Tour In South Iceland
With new products and restaurants popping up all over the country, there is no better time than the present to experience Iceland's food scene combined with Iceland´s magnificent landscapes and nature.
I’ll take you out of Reykjavik or Selfoss and deep into the Icelandic countryside where the scenery comes alive and the food is magical. Woven into our tours is a fascinating mix of culture, history, nature and a delicious sampling of foods from past to present.
The pace is easy, as in 'slow travel' mode, to give you ample time to take in the scenery and enjoy the experience to the full. I take you to places that are off the beaten path, as well as to some of the more famous nature spots.
As this is essentially a private tour we can be as structured or as spontaneous as you would like, and visit places that are geared to your interests or your curiosity. Some possibilities include:
Visit an authentic Icelandic turf house for an introduction into Icelandic culture as it was lived for over 1000 years.
Sample some ‘tiny tastes’ of traditional Icelandic fare that was eaten for centuries and is still enjoyed by Icelanders today.
Drive along the South coast to experience the wonderful Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls.
Bathe in Iceland’s largest natural hot water swimming pool.
Sample a tempting array of Icelandic desserts in a former skyr making factory
Visit a charming sea-side fishing village and its famous lobster restaurant.
Visit a ‘gourmet shop’ Icelandic style and see a range of new food products that are now available around the country.
Taste your way around South Central Iceland at my favourite hand-picked locations, chosen for their friendliness, quality and authentic perspective on Icelandic food and culture.
Gorgeous scenery, wonderful food, and lots of inspiration await you!

About the host
I have been exploring Iceland for over a decade. I come from a family of foodies and have grown up with a passion for all aspects of food, culture and nature.
The Icelandic food scene today reflects changing tastes as Icelanders transition away from the old traditional foods with many modern Icelandic chefs pioneering new culinary moves brought on by a shared world wide awareness of new trends and techniques.
My tours are designed to help you experience Iceland in a deeper way through our unique culinary, cultural and historical perspective.
